Found this unschooling mindset gem online today and thought you might dig it. It’s a short video inspired by philosopher Alan Watts’ assertion on “the problem with school. I know many of us can relate the feelings conveyed in this video, so it also makes for a great mindful thinking opportunity as well.
To be clear, I’m not anti-school; I’m pro-unschooling. In our home, we prioritize flow over structure, passion over obligation, inspired excellence over fear-induced task mastering. Our transition into unschooling helped us to prioritize those things that matter to us, in a way that our previous lifestyle didn’t. I share these things not because I believe everyone should unschool, but because I believe everyone should know about this option for themselves and their children. I get that it’s not for everyone, but information offers access to the power of informed decision-making, and that is definitely for everyone.
