Raw Food Feasts, Selfish Writing, and Morning Ritual Reboots

Simplicity + focus in the direction of my joy: My August 2015 Goals
This might be my next tattoo: If you live the questions, life will move you into the answers.

That Deepak Chopra quote beautifully articulates the simple thing I’ve been doing for the last four years.  When Kris and I untethered ourselves and our daughters from schools, schedules, and systems that were never a good fit for our flow, we began to put our biggest questions into action by using the questions to take us down the road to the answers.  Unschooling and location independence are the answers that life has moved us into.  That path, like any good one, calls for us to drop our baggage and trust our brilliance; to let Creator and intuition take over when logic and budgets try to limit our lives.

What questions keep coming up in your life right now?
What do you want so much but can’t figure out how to walk toward?

Whatever they are, I invite you to live those questions by setting goals in the direction of the life you crave.  This month I’m sharing my goals with you, if for no other reason than to give you examples of how one person goes about living the questions and recognizing the answers when they come.

Question:  How can I start feeling even better in my body and more clear in my thoughts?
Answer:  Indulge in another Raw Food Feast

If you’ve been with me for a while, you’ve likely heard me singing the praises of my July, 2013 month-long, raw food feast.  I used the month to shift my mindset from mediocrity to mindful mastery using food as my point of entry.  For those 31 days, I devoured an abundance of uncooked, unprocessed, all-natural foods—basically fruits and vegetables. That process shifted all kinds of shit (literally and figuratively) in my body, and helped me gain a level of mental clarity I didn’t even know existed!  This month, starting on the 10th and going through the 31st, I’ll be all about that raw food feast life, and this time I’ve got partners (yusss!).  My husband, Kris, and a few of our closest friends are joining me, and I can’t even tell you how excited I am for them, for myself, and about what we will discover individually and collectively through this beautiful process.  I’ll be sharing my journey on Instagram and Pinterest, so if you’re curious (of if you wanna join us) come through.

Question: What can I do to continue strengthening my skill and refining my art as a writer
Answer: Write another book to honor the balance between writing for hire and writing for self

I’m adding another ebook to my Amazon series this month. I’ve published four ebooks and two audiobooks in the past nine months, and I feel such a sense of fulfillment each time I follow my process from idea to implementation when it comes to writing.  After all, writing is that one thing I’d do if money didn’t matter, so I stay in alignment with my ‘one thing’ by making sure that I’m doing writing just for me.  I’ve been getting into a sweet groove as far as content writing (basically gigs where good folks pay me to write for their sites), and I’m grateful for that.  But when I publish my books, I get to do my purest writing.  When I’m writing my books, I have no parameters to fit into and no editors’ ideas to consider, so it’s a great way to create harmony between my fee-for-service writing (the gigs) and my all-me/all-day writing (books and ebooks).

Question: How can I strengthen my focus muscles so I can feel less force and more flow
Answer: Get back in touch with the morning ritual that served me so well in the past

I fell off my morning ritual flow a few weeks ago, and I want it back!  I started in May and I was consistent until we came back to the U.S. in July.  It’s a basic routine that powers me up for the day, and helps me align my deepest desires with my moment-by-moment actions.  It’s my way of walking my talk, and I am so excited to get back into the swing of that particular energy.  I have to send a mad love shout-out to Stefan Pylarinos for nudging me toward a morning ritual.  I don’t know dude in real life, nor have we ever communicated online, but he was sent to remind me of the power of simple rituals in the morning, and to reinforce what I’ve been helping more than 1500 people do in my Simple Spirituality Course.  I may do a video this month detailing my ritual, and if I do, you know I’ll blog about it to share it with you, because that’s how you and I get down!

Perfect timing sis. I’m currently experiencing a sense of spiritual vertigo, as best I can describe it. At the same time, I have this sudden awareness that “something” is either happening, or coming down the road, or trying to speak to me…or pushing me. All of this creates this feeling of spinning. A churning that I can’t shake. But bringing my attention to Deepak Chopra’s quote might have been just the centering I needed. I’ll sit on that one and ponder it a bit. It resonated with me so much when I read it that I had a slow-blink moment. Haha! You know the moments. Gawd, I don’t know what’s on the other side, but I know I am pushing against something that I can’t see. Worse yet, I know I’m pushing back because I’m afraid of it. Upper limits issues maybe. Either way, I’ll lead with this quote, and do some soul work. Much appreciated 🙂

    • Good, I’m happy to know that this serves you. Have you used it? How has it been? Is the churning still there?
